Today I got off on rabbit trails as I was reading Isaiah 52 and Proverbs 8. I ended up on a thought from Psalms. Psalm 145:3 is wonderful psalm to reassure the Christian and change the view of the unbeliever.
Many view God as the one who hammers you when you do something bad. Why would someone view God that way? Well first of all they may not be saved. If you haven't accepted Christ's death on the cross as payment for your sin (bad things you do), then you should be fearful. Hell is a real place and those who haven't accepted Christ as Savior will spend eternity there.
Think of a policeman. If you are speeding, then you are fearful when you see a police car. Why? Because you were breaking the law and the policeman has the authority to give you a very expensive ticket.
Now imagine that you are out walking and there is a car of thugs who pulls over to the curb and start saying threatening things to you. A police car drives up right behind them. Are you afraid of the policeman? No? He can save your life!
That's the way we should view God. He doesn't sit up in heaven just waiting for you to mess up so he can hit you with a lightening bolt. If you are a Christian (a Christ follower) then He is your heavenly father watching over you and taking care of you.
So how do you view God. Are you afraid of Him or do you take comfort in knowing that he is watching over you? If you are afraid, then read I Corinthians 6:2. Today could be the day you turn from fear and turn to the God of all comfort.
